BHOPAL: With Madhya Pradesh (MP) government procuring record 85.06 lakh metric tonnes wheat from the farmers, a six-member delegation from Rajasthan is coming to the state next week to study the foodgrain gathering methodology, officials said.
The delegation led by Rajasthan’s additional food commissioner SK Solanki, comprising of five Rajasthan’s food and civil supplies department officials, will reach the state capital on July 17 and three days leave for Chandigarh, they added.
The team will study the method adopted for wheat procurement on minimum support price (MSP). It will hold detailed discussion with their counterparts in MP on July 18 and 19, they added.
MP had procured 85.06 lakh metric tonnes wheat between March 15 – May 31, officials. SMS texting was used to procure wheat from the farmers and they were also given bonus money as well.
After procuring the wheat, the state authorities deposited the money in the farmers’ bank account within a week.

According to a figure, Punjab, Haryana and MP have procured 12.98 million tonnes, 8.65 million tonnes and 8.5 million tonnes wheat respectively.
